Jonas Juozapas Tiškevičius palace, Lithuanian cultural heritage size, has been entrusted to the team of „Medžio dizainas“ for restoration works.
History
Jonas Juozapas Tiškevičius palace have been designed and build by state councillor Ignacy Karbanovich in 1859 and was the first representative example of historicism style house in Neris quay. In 1891 the palace was bought by Trakų Vokė count Jan Józef Tyszkiewicz, who reconstructed the building according to the design of architect K. Maciulevičius. The newly build orangerie gave the building an unique look. In 1940 the palace was nationalized and handed over to the Vilnius district hospital. The doctors and personel of the Red Cross hospital, that was located in this building, where saving human lives day and night and was treating the victims of Soviet Union aggression during the 1991 January 13th events.
The following work was carried out during the restoration of the palace doors and windows:
removal of the doors and windows
removal of the glass panels
removal of the old paint
repair of the frame
damaged wood repair
sanding
renewal of the metal parts
installation of new glass panes according to the time period appropriate technology
painting (using a brush)
reproduction of the windows that are impossible to restore, using the time period appropriate technology
installation of the windows and doors at the palace.
